Sigurd Fastenrath 2009-12-17 16:56:13 | My network speed with eComStation is ZERO because of having no drivers for any of the new hardware I have (nor LAN or WLAN).
It is a pitty. |
dixie 2009-12-17 19:59:30 | Many cards work fine with genmac in unsupported mode. Unfortunately current genmac supporter too lazy to add it all. |
Sigurd Fastenrath 2009-12-18 09:25:57 | Hi dixie,
sorry, you are wrong at all. I for myself helped to add support for EEE PC cards (LAN, WLAN) and other Netbook cards in unsupported mode. I tried with others together our best to add UNSUPPORTED support for INTEL 5100/5200/5300 cards, even with contacting the author of GENMAC himself. We have been able to load the Drivers but no connection can be established. Many others tried other modern adapters, none succeeded.
So - I can say I haven't been to lazy, it is just not possible unless the GENMAC Driver will be updated itself. But those comments like yours "to lazy" leads the developer of GENMAC in the end to do nothing more on it, what I personally can totally understand, once I read your lines.
Before writing something like this you should scan the "non russian" ecs - OS/2 Forums to make up your mind about the facts. |
dixie 2009-12-18 11:37:38 | On many Intel cards genmac unable to set correct MAC address. It is always 00-00-00...
I'm run my Intel card successfully only when I write tiny patch tool (genmac_mac on hobbes), which set manual MAC adress.
Genmac author can easily add such option, but he do nothing for years of reporting this problem. |
