HP Compaq F761 Presario

Mark: Average

(This report is prepared by ecomstation.ru scout), source of information: jan

I have a Compaq F761 Presario running ECS 2.0 GA pretty well, but i would suggest staying away from HP/Compaq for the following reasons: Support is for Win7 ONLY.

The wifi card is locked in the bios. You can only replace it with an HP branded one which is specific for the model/locale of the machine. The bios settings are not accessable. The bios and video bios will be shadowed, even though this is a waste under both Win7 and ECs.

I would also stay away from any machine with an NVidia video chip. ECS runs on the NVidia processor chipset using AMD chips, but i have been unable to get widescreen (1280x800) running. Win7 does support this (it's the display's native resolution). NVidia does not provide bios or chiplevel support for ECS.
