Nokia N900 smartphone
Mark: Average Nokia N900 -- communicator/mobile computer, platform: Maemo 5
(Linux, debian based). The device is able to connect with PC in
USB MSD mode, emulation of USB com-port (aka PC Suite mode),
emulation of Ethernet adapter mode.
- USB MSD: internal memory, external microSDHC flash disk.
Internal memory:
32 Gb size, 3 partitions: 27 Gb FAT32,
768 Gb linux swap, 2 Gb ext3 linux root.
I can see in USB MSD the FAT32 volume only (as big floppy).
OS/2 (os2dasd.dmd) doesn't support Big floppy disks in other formats
(FAT12/FAT16 only), so I can't access main memory storage as usbmsd.
Flashdisk is visible as hardrive with volumes, I assigned letters to all volumes on
microSD card (create the volume via LVM).
- USB COM port mode: usbcom.sys doesn't see the phone switched
to modem mode. It's good that eCS (usbmsd.sys) doesn't trap in this case
as Nokia phones based on Symbian.
- The phone is able to emulate Ethernet adapter,
is install maemo-pc-connectivity package.
I tried driver usbethr.os2 for
USB ethernet adapters, ot doesn't work :(
It's useful mode if no Wifi network, and you want
organize the network between PC and phone via USB.
The phone is able get internet via PC in this case and vice versa:
setup NAT on the phone and your PC gets connection to Internet.
- One more method to connect with PC -- via wifi.
You can install openssh on the phone and
work remotely from PC via ssh, exchange files by scp.
You can install on the phone proftpd
or samba and exchange files.
Conclusion:
I can exchange files with OS/2 via wifi and USB MSD, other means do not work.
