OS/2 is a greatly different operating system for PC (ArcaOS, eComStation, IBM OS/2 Warp)

Yes while the website still needs to be updated and details still
need to be put online. I am pleased to announce that OS/2 VOICE
will be hosting Warpstock Europe 2017 in Rotterdam the Netherlands.
The location will be the Central library.
Dates 20 May Saturday and Sunday.
There MAYBE a social event on Friday evening but this is not CERTAIN YET.
I need to work out the final details. Before I say yes.
But event location is booked!
Access for 2 days will 50 Euro. The location is a bit expensive,
but the location is perfect. Mayor intercity train station under
the library. A direct train from Schiphol (Dutch national airport).

While some people that can not make it to Warpstock who sponsor VOICE. We will provide a videostream again so you can tune in! The event this year (Warpstock Europe 2016) in our view has been inspiring for all. People talked about new OS/2 projects to develop! In other words Warpstock Europe played its part to keep OS/2 moving forward.
Device Manager it's another important element which changes work with OS/2:
DevMan will significantly simplify
configuration and maintenance of the operating system.
The developers can join the development of plugins for DevMan.
The API is not published.
Preliminary, our plugin system will work as described:
DevMan walks by the tree of detected devices
it calls the plugin for every device
the plugin can access the information collected by DevMan
the plugin can select
1. don't modify, 2. hide/remove the device from the tree, 3. add/update information about device,
4. add more devices to the list.

Seems that OS/2, Fifth generation means:
(as before) 32-bit kernel, modernized
ACPI sub-system
extended API (eCo Software runtime)
updated user interface (dialogs, PNG icons) + XWorkPlace
device drivers: SATA + CUPS for printing + modern video driver (Panorama)
eComStation 2.x - it's OS/2 of 5-th generation. ArcaOS (the release of 1-st version is planned for late third quarter or fourth quarter of 2016) - may achieve the 5-th generation too.
Imagine that you have a sever running OS/2.
Sometimes the server hangs. So there need to send signals from the server
to other os/2 computer. If signal stopped then we can conclue that the server have crashed.
(or verify the availability of server from test computer).
eCo Software toolkit and libraries are updated several times per year.
Pay attention to new feature in XIO library: support of files larger that 2 Gb.
